Nowadays it's used (or I've seen it mostly used) as a response to someone who made a mistake, who speaks out of their ass or you just plain disagree with them and are satirizing the conversation, trying to put in the spotlight how ridiculous is the thing they just said. There's a term that is practically "Si pendeja" for me. But I'll try to remember some from my Mexican/Latin background. I don't use much spanish gay slang, I mostly use english slang be it gay or not. Honestly, I thought you knew a bit about spanish and french before reading they're literal translations lol.
